We've got some exciting news to deliver!
"Sol" has reached an agreement with a distributor and will soon be available to audiences all over the world. After a run of meetings with various companies about the film's future, we felt that one in particular really stood out and meshed with our vision for the project. As such, we're very excited to announce that we've signed the film with Cinetic FilmBuff for release in April, 2012. The film will be playing in a select few theaters in the U.S., and available globally on DVD and VOD. It's been truly incredible to see the outpouring of interest and support that "Sol" has received from sci-fi fans all over the world, and we're very excited to be making it available to audiences everywhere.
We've been very busy over the last several weeks preparing the film for delivery, and now everything is on schedule for our release in mid/late April. Our top priority was to preserve the highest quality of the film while still making it accessible to international viewers. As a result, we're focusing on several digital distributors which include iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, and CinemaNow. Other avenues are in the works so make sure to keep an eye out for it. We'd like to personally thank all of you for the support you've shown us so far. Because the film is ultimately about you guys, it truly means a lot and makes all the difference.

On the Shoulders of Giants...
"Sol" is a sci-fi motion picture event set in the distant future on a hostile alien planet. It follows a group of ambitious young adults as they embark upon the prestigious Sol Invictus competition in a quest to win fame and glory. The rules of the game are simple but dire: each of Earth's finest Academies sends their best and brightest to a remote planet in a race against the rest. The first team to pinpoint, out of all the stars in the sky, which one is Earth's faraway sun -- Sol -- is the winner. But no one goes home until the games are won...
A glorious life awaits the lucky few who win, and many have died at the hands of their peers along the way with no questions asked.
But visions of victory crumble as the teams are marooned on the wrong planet with most of their teammates missing - along with all of their equipment. What starts as a game for glory soon descends into a race for survival as former enemies must band together in the bleak hope of surviving long enough to win.
"Sol" is an independently financed and produced science fiction film from screenwriter/director Benjamin Carland; starring Jake Brown, Caleb Courtney, Sky King, Aaron Kuban, Spenser Pollard, Tyler Thomas, and Jake White. After over a year of pre-production, the film was shot entirely in North Carolina in late 2009/10 and utilized a cast and crew from across the country.
